We're two childhood friends from East LA who fell in love with woodworking — and decided to make solid, beautiful unfinished wood furniture accessible to everyone.
From a Garage in East LA
to Your Living Room
It started with a beat-up dresser. In 2016, Marco Reyes was renovating his apartment in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles and couldn't find a dresser that was both quality and affordable — let alone one he could finish himself to match his wife's design vision.
So he called his college friend Daniel Park, a cabinetmaker from the San Gabriel Valley, and the two built one in Marco's garage over a weekend. Neighbors started knocking. Friends wanted one. By 2018, they had a waiting list — and a business.
Today, Unfinished Wood Dresser ships across the US, but our roots — and our standards — are still planted in Los Angeles. Every piece we design is tested in California homes before it ever reaches yours.

Meet Our Founders
Two Angelenos, one shared obsession with furniture done right.
Marco Reyes
Marco grew up in Lincoln Heights, East Los Angeles, where his grandfather ran a small furniture repair shop on Figueroa Street. He studied business at Cal State LA and spent years in interior design before realizing the furniture industry was missing something obvious: a quality unfinished dresser anyone could make their own.
When he's not sourcing new wood species or talking shop with customers, you'll find him hiking Griffith Park or hunting vintage hardware at the Rose Bowl Flea Market.
Daniel Park
Daniel grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and learned traditional Korean joinery from his father before studying cabinetmaking at the Rosemead Community Workshop. He's the reason every drawer glides perfectly and every joint is cut to last a lifetime — craftsmanship isn't a department at our company, it's Daniel.
Off the workshop floor, Daniel restores vintage Los Angeles bungalows and teaches free woodworking classes to high school students in Alhambra on weekends.
How We Got Here
The First Dresser
Marco and Daniel build a 5-drawer birch dresser in a two-car garage in Lincoln Heights. Neighbors start asking where to buy one.
Word Spreads in LA
A post in a Los Angeles home renovation Facebook group goes viral locally. 40 orders in one weekend — and a frantic call to upgrade the workshop.
Official Launch
UnfinishedWoodDresser.com goes live. First official US shipping route established. The team grows from 2 to 8 people, all from the greater LA area.
Custom Program Launched
Customer demand for unique sizes leads to our custom-dimension program. Now any dresser can be built to your exact measurements.
